But however little others may feel interested in reading the following pages, I may hope that you will find here and there some few words of conversation with our old friend Sheich Hussein, or some little incident, unheeded by other readers, which shall recall to your mind scenes that could not be made the subject of your art, and were too dramatic, perhaps, for ordinary prose description.
